Tick bite

Ticks are small parasitic arthropods that feed on the blood of mammals. There are more than 800 different species, but only two are known to transmit diseases to humans, such as Lyme Disease (borreliosis). Tick bites are most common in the spring and summer months.

Symptoms caused by a tick bite.

At the moment the tick bites, there is no pain. Later, itching, redness and a burning sensation may occur at the site of the bite. People who are sensitive or allergic to ticks may also experience a skin rash, shortness of breath, swelling or numbness. If fever, shortness of breath, generalized weakness, tendency to vomit, local swelling at the bite site and/or lymph nodes, headache, mental confusion or rapid pulse occur immediately after the symptom, an immediate visit to the dermatologist is required.
