Chemical Peelings
Chemical peel is cleansing method for the face used to improve the appearance of the skin and is administered by a dermatologist.
It is a controlled chemical burn of the skin with the purpose of exfoliating it, that is the removal of the skin’s outer layers and the treatment of wrinkles.
The treatment takes place in a dermatology clinic. During the treatment a chemical solution is applied on the skin in order to achieve a controlled chemical burn and finally to peel it ( that is to remove the damaged outer layers).
Anesthesia is usually not required since the patient will only feel a slight sting while rarely an anesthetic cream will be applied locally.
The procedure lasts no more than 10-15 minutes. The doctor lets the ingredients act for about 2-15 minutes and then he cleans the area or neutralizes the solution.
After that recommendations are given for the treatment at home.
Over time our skin faces many changes. It gets thinner and forms wrinkles due to the laxity of the facial muscles.
