Atrophic scars

by Dr. Yiannis Neofytou

Atrophic scars refer to sunken recesses in the skin and are associated with diseases such as acne, chickenpox, other diseases (especially Staphylococcus infection) etc.

Scars can cause tightness and discomfort on the skin as well as severe aesthetic problems. Scar formation is a normal part of the wound healing process. However, when superficial scars create severe problems affecting daily life, then they need to be treated.

Surgery can change the shape of the scar, making it less visible.

Also, laser scraping and laser rejuvenation techniques can be applied, where the surface layers of the skin are removed. Newer types of Lasers can deliver better results, targeting dermal collagen without removing the outer layer of the skin, making recovery easier.

MESOPEN

Mesopen is an alternative form of mesotherapy. It helps the penetration of active substances, creating portals of entry into the skin barrier with the creation of controlled micronulls, thanks to its specially designed head (pen with 12 tiny titanium pins), without obvious skin injury. Through this mechanism of action, the penetration capacity of the active substances increases.
