Sun spots

by Dr. Yiannis Neofytou

Sun spots are color lesions of the skin that manifest with gray, brown or black flat spots. They vary in size and usually appear on the face, arms, shoulders and chest, ie the areas that are most exposed to the sun. Unlike freckles, which darken in summer and reopen in winter, sunspots do not fade on their own. Most of the time, they are harmless, but they need dermatological evaluation in case they change color or size. If they are aesthetically unpleasant, they can be treated with whitening agents, Laser and other effective treatments. And in this case, the best treatment is prevention. To avoid sunspots, it is necessary to follow the instructions below in order to limit your exposure to sunlight: * Avoid the sun 10-4 in the afternoon. * Avoid to go outside without the use of sunscreen. * For protection from sunlight, the use of a hat helps.
