What is Black Circles
The term “black circles” describes the hyperpigmentation, which can occur around the eyes, giving an ungroomed appearance.
Black circles affect all ages, are particularly common among women and have a variety of etiopathogenesis.
- Primary hyperpigmentation in the eyelids’ area.
- Heredity .
- Allergic contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis (contact lenses’ solution, eye drops, nail polish, shadow etc.).
- Sun radiation, drugs (minocyclin, antimalarials, phenothiazines et al), hormones (estrogens, progesterone, pregnancy).
- Age. They become more visible with time, because the skin loses part of its collagen and becomes thinner and more transparent.
- Way of life. Lack of sleep, fatigue, bad nutrition, reduced fluid intake, smokig, alcohol, daily make up.
- Anemia – Systemic diseases. Iron deficiency anemia and pale skin and more visible vessels ‘network.
- Periorbital oedema. Significant increase of the volume of the interstitial fluid caused by local obstruction of venous or lymphatic channels primarily or secondarily.
- Mesotherapy, repeated every 1 or 2 weeks.
- Peels, which helps against black circles and needs 3-4 sessions.
- Hyaluronic acid fillers, especially for the problem of the lower eyelids, with results lasting up to 1 year.
- Application of creams containing hydroquinone.
- Laser therapies, for the bags as well for the black circles.
