Molluscum contagiosum
The virus M.contagiosum belongs to the family of pox virus and is called Molluscum Contagiosum Virus (MCV).
It only affects humans and there 4 types of this virous. Even if Molluscum Contagiosum is a common papular rash many parents do not know ot its existence.
When children are infected by the Molluscum Contagiosum Virus they develop small bumps that look like lumps, moles or pearls.
These small skin lesions appear mainly on the face, the body, the limps and genitals.
The lesions develop for 2-8 weeks after infection and it is very for the virus to spread, if when the first bumps appear the child rubs or scrapes them.
In many cases if Molluscum Contagiosum is left untreated it can rapidly develop and subside in 2-3 months.
But because new lesions can develop in the place of the old ones, it is recomended to treat it in the early stages, before the lesions increase in number and before other family members or friends get infected.
In children, in which the disease persists or spreads, it is necessary to treat the lesions either with CO2 laser or cryotherapy.
MESOPEN
