Genital herpes

What is Genital Herpes and how is it transmitted?2018-12-07T08:07:17+02:00

The genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease. It is caused by the virus HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) type 1 and 2.

The infection by the virus HSV2, infects the genitals and is transmitted through the sexual act.
The virus is found within the skin ulcer it causes. Contact with the ulcers transmits the virus.

Also the virus can be found on the skin of the genital area even of there are no infected points. When the virus HSV infects the body it stays forever. It occasionally causes new clinical signs through ulcers in the genital area.

HSV1 virus causes infections mainly in the mouth and the lips (cold sores). This virus also stays in the body forever.

It has the ability to reactivate and cause ulcers on the lips and mouth. This happens when the patient is infected by fever or another disease or for some reasons his immune system is weakened.

HSV1 virus, besides cold sores can also cause genital herpes. This happens when the genital area of someone comes in contact with the saliva of someone else who has oral herpes.

What are the symptoms?2018-12-07T08:05:49+02:00

The first signs after infection with the virus HSV2, usually manifest after 2 weeks.

Initially small blisters appear on the genitals or the area of the rectum.

Then they break and local ulcers are caused accompanied by pain and itchiness.
They can also be accompanied by swelling of the pelvic lymph nodes, a general illness feeling and rarely by fever.

The ulcers heal after 2 weeks. But there is a possibility that the same clinical signs reappear.
Most patients infected by the virus HSV2, do not notice it because the symptoms are mild or do not develop ulcers.

Patients who manifest clinical signs of genital herpes , may have recurrences of the disease, with repeated episodes up to 4-5 times every year. But gradually the frequency and severity of the new episodes diminishes.

Persons who know that they are infected by the virus HSV may feel awkward and sad because of that fact.

What is the treatment and the prevention?2018-12-07T08:02:14+02:00

There is no treatment until today to fully exterminate the virus.

There is medication against HSV, which can reduce the duration and frequency of the manifestations and recurrences of the disease. Drugs such as acyclovir can be used locally and orally.

The best prevention in cases of sexual activity is the use of a condom.

But the protection the condoms offer is not absolute. The infected area may not be covered and so the virus can be transmitted during the act.

If one of the two partners has genital herpes it is best to avoid contact as long as there are clinical signs and it is best if they use condoms.

MESOPEN

Mesopen is an alternative form of mesotherapy. It helps the penetration of active substances, creating portals of entry into the skin barrier with the creation of controlled micronulls, thanks to its specially designed head (pen with 12 tiny titanium pins), without obvious skin injury. Through this mechanism of action, the penetration capacity of the active substances increases.
