Pityriasis alba

Pityriasis Alba is a skin condition, the exact causes of which are unknown. However, it is considered a mild form of atopic dermatitis, ie a form of eczema. White dandruff is manifested by round or oval hyperpigmented (white) spots. During the summer, the tanning of the normal skin of the area around the skin lesions makes the lesions of pityriasis Alba more visible.
There is no specific treatment. It seems that Cortisone topically, and in combination with topical Antifungals, gives very good results. The disease usually resolves spontaneously after a few years.
