What is nail clubbing ?
Nail clubbing refers to specific changes in the fingers and toes that result from an underlying condition. These changes may include:
Widening and increased convexity in the nails
Reduction of the onychophalangeal angle
Downward curvature of the nails
Soft nail bed, which makes the nails appear to “float”
Swelling of the tip of the fingers or toes, which may be accompanied by redness or warmth
These changes may appear within weeks or years, depending on the cause. It can be the result of a multitude of conditions, many of which are serious.If you’re experiencing nail clubbing, make an appointment with your doctor.
