Intravenous iron infusion

Intravenous iron infusion means the direct infusion of iron through a peripheral vein. Iron is mixed with sterile saline solution and by continuous infusion in drops is administered through a peripheral vein to the patient.
Iron is needed by the body to produce hemoglobin, a substance that carries oxygen from the lungs to the body’s organs.
When the amount of iron in the body is too low, the hemoglobin level drops below normal. This is known as “iron deficiency anemia” and results in fatigue and difficulty in your daily activities.The infusion of iron takes place in our doctor’s office following the instructions of the doctor.
