Seborrheic dermatitis is a common inflammatory skin condition which causes whitish plaques on oily areas such as the scalp hair or inside the ear. It can manifest with or without skin redness. Cradle cap is the term used when Seborrheic dermatitis affects the scalp of babies.

The lesions subside on their own within few weeks up to 3 months. If they persist your dermatologist will recommend special shampoos and creams.
