Dermatofibromas

It is a common benign lesion that looks like a mole in the form of a fibrous nodule and usually occurs in the tibia. Dermatofibromas are found at all ages and in all races, although they are more common in women than in men.
Although the process of their development is not fully understood, dermatofibromas are probably a reactive type of proliferation of skin fibroblasts resulting in the development of characteristic lesions. They are very common after an insect bite.
Dermatofibrosis is treated with surgical removal.
