Candidiasis

Candida is the strain of a fungus that causes skin infections. This common cause of fungal infections is favored by the presence of moisture on the skin and affects parts of the body with folds such as between the fingers, armpits, groin and buttocks. Symptoms vary depending on body position, but include the following:
Rash
Red or purple spots on the skin
A white substance like flakes over the affected areas
Scaly skin
Cracks in the skin
Erythema, which leads to redness
Appearance of white soft skin
Purulent blisters on the affected areas (pimples filled with pus)
Red and white lesions in the mouth, as in fungal stomatitis
The treatment for cutaneous candidiasis is usually simple. Your doctor may prescribe antifungal creams, ointments or lotions that are applied directly to the skin.
